Just as generations of teenagers grew up with
classic Coca-Cola commercials such as "Beach Ball" and "Sky Surfer", Coke's new
"Open Happiness" campaign is a welcome return to the magic of the brand's
iconic past.
To re-engage with teens and reignite their passion for outrageous antics,
OGILVY Sydney produced Coca-Cola's Australia's biggest brand campaign in the
last 20 years.
The 60-second commercial tantalises teens with a giant floating Coke bottle
that has a powerful skydiving simulator built into its base. It positions
Coca-Cola as a refreshing escape from the ordinary and offers an open
invitation to lift the lid on life, let go and have fun.
The supporting soundtrack is an Australian remix of the international hit "Open
Happiness": a collaboration between Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy, Brendon
Urie of Panic! at the Disco, Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes, Cee-Lo, and
Janelle Monae.
"Open Happiness" premiered on the first day of summer with a roadblock across
all free-to-air and pay TV channels. It simultaneously aired on radio, in
cinemas, and was supported by out-of-home, mobile, online and digital activity.
