A talented Melbourne-based writer and researcher is invited to join Lawrence Creative Strategy’s highly experienced team. Primarily working on a world class website, you’ll be responsible for clearly communicating the science and complexities of climate change and carbon capture and storage.

Responsibilities:The role will focus on a website, currently being redeveloped, that:
* Outlines two key issues –that climate change is a serious problem and we must take action; and that coal will play a role in Australia’s energy provision and economy.
* Showcases carbon capture and storage technology as one part of the solution to climate change, alongside renewables, new ideas, and taking individual or collective action.
* Provides detailed copy, information and resources for people wanting to know more about these issues and solutions.
* Participates in social media to listen and take part in the mainstream climate change debate.
The Writer and Researcher will:
* Research and write well-evidenced, authoritative and compelling copy and material for the site.
* Write and update the blog daily, and write and send out the email newsletter weekly.
* Proactively think of new features to help distill the complexities of climate change, carbon capture and storage and renewables so that interested members of the general public can understand them.
* Undertake other writing and research duties as required.
The Person/Skills Required:Research and writing
* Proven ability to research complex topics from scratch, sythesise information from different sources, distill it into clear copy and evidence with footnote and links.
Tech savvy
* The successful applicant will be responsible for writing and maintaining the blog.
* While this is not a highly technical role, a familiarity with blogs and blogging conventions like linking, referencing, attribution, comment moderation, and community management is necessary.
Quick turnaround
* Detail, accuracy and carefully evidencing copy and research is important in this role.
* However, it has to be balanced with the fast pace of the online world and blogging.
* This role will suit someone who can turn around accurate copy quickly.
Self motivated and proactive
* Our small team is highly experienced and works together seamlessly across two offices. Reporting to the Digital Strategy Director, this role will suit someone who likes to be given a goal and can work towards confidently it without needing to be micromanaged.
Formal Qualifications:This role would suit a university graduate (science disciplines preferred but not mandatory) with 3+ years of experience in communications.
